4 July 2023 Update

New Storage Room

Over the last few months we have been discussing the possibility of helping St. Thomas's Church to re-organise space in the Parish Centre to consolidate the food and other items stored by Comfort C.A.F.E. and to enable the church to make better use of the large room at the back of the hall.

A couple of weeks ago we got the green light from Nichola the Church Warden to get the ball rolling and have been carrying out a joint clearing-out exercise. The room we were to occupy was chock-a-block and  Nichola took on the task of sorting out the various children's items and other stuff, whilst volunteers from Comfort C.A.F.E. concentrated on moving the heavier items around and cleaning.

We had a huge push on 3 July with our volunteers being joined by a friend from All Saint's Church and one of my friends from Felixstowe who had come to stay with me for a few days and got roped in! We swapped cupboards, moved shelves and contents moved existing fridge-freezers and installed a new one that had been donated. After this we all had lunch and were about done.

We asked Nichola to perform an 'opening ceremony' which she did on 4 July and can be seen here cutting the ribbon alongside Gwen Cross.

This new arrangement should work well for everybody. We  get a dedicated room in which we can store all of our materials without the need for putting things on top of cupboards, and the Church gets full use of the larger room.
